Mentoring

Vikram Lulla - Mentor
Raghavendra Yadav is a student alumnus from Teach For India's classroom. His father is a daily wage worker, and his mother is a homemaker. Living in a small community in Mumbai, Raghavendra's story evolved from discovering self to empowering others. In Grade 9, he worked on a project with his peers called 100 Women, where they used the power of storytelling to amplify the voices of 100 marginalized women in their community. In Grade 10, he recognized the need to "do more" and "be more".

Raghavendra shares, "I grew up watching my parents work harder each day for survival. My family situation of being underprivileged slowly became a privilege because it pushed me to work hard. It taught me to be conscious of resources and opportunities. Further, I began to focus on problems faced by my community. I realized that alone could do only a little, but I can make a huge difference with collective action. Paramarsh was one such initiative to elevate student leadership so that they can impact more people."

Inspired by McKinsey's consulting model, Raghavendra launched Paramarsh – a free consultancy and mentoring program that empowered students in his community to drive sustainable models of change towards the causes they believe in. His role was to foster leadership skills in his classmates and reach a collective impact of over 700 individuals.

In 2020 after receiving a full scholarship at U.W.C. Pearson College Canada, the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted the world, and his family had fallen on some challenging times. TAP provided him with financial aid. Vikram Lulla, a TAP member, became his mentor, providing him guidance, moral support, and logistic help while getting his visa and necessities to travel to Canada. Today, Raghavendra studies at U.W.C. Pearson College Canada. He is thriving at school and is looking forward to pursuing his higher education. He is very thankful and appreciative of all the help he has received over the years and is determined to give back and continue the circle of giving.

Thank you Vikram for mentoring me and being my guiding star
